Do You Calibrate Your EQ Printer?
Calibrating your EQ Printer should be part of your regular lab equipment maintenance routine.
As a general rule, you should calibrate the printer any time you change a consumable item
(drum, toner, fuser, etc.) or anytime you notice that the color is off.
The most effective method for calibration is using a supported densitometer.
Lucidiom sells the X-Rite EyeOne (i1) Densitometer--a small USB device that you plug into your Lab 50 computer.
This is a great piece of equipment to invest in because it can also be used to calibrate other
devices in your lab.
If you are noticing any of these problems in your prints, calibration can help!
- Streaking (lines in prints)
- Color issues (color is off or is too saturated or too faded)
- Density issues (too much or not enough contrast)
- Registration issues (the color layers don’t line up)
Another helpful tip: Once a week and whenever you replace the toner, you should wipe down the four LEDs on the
underside of the top with the wipes included with the new toner cartridge. In between toner changes you can also use
generic first aid alcohol wipes.
